Unique Tequila exhibitions

The exhibition "El viacrucis" by the master Carlos Terres, a collection of 15 pieces representing the path marked with crosses or representations of the Passion of Christ; a sculptural collection of the steps that Jesus took on the road to Calvary. We invite you to visit this magnificent work from April 8 through April 24.

From dawn to dusk. For this, a meticulous photographic study of an agave field was made in time lapses to determine and specify the color palette. The latter was translated into solid colors to use the silkscreen layers implemented on the box of the new edition of tequila Reserva de la Familia Extra Añejo. The tradition and intrinsic heritage reflected in Gonzalo Lebrija's art is perfect for paying homage to a product that reflects it: Reserva de la Familia Extra Añejo, complementing this journey through various dialogues with photography, sculpture, mural art and visual art (video) "La suerte de detener el tiempo" (The luck of stopping time).

Through a collection of antique carriages from the 19th and 20th centuries, you can observe the changes in the means of transportation and communication and their use over time. Moved by horses and with many changes over the years, they will never cease to be an attraction for any museum or fascinate visitors. Our carriages served as a means of transportation, like great circulating thrones that would arrive on our lands in the viceregal era.

Alexander Von Wuthenau arrived in our country in 1935, where he worked as an architect and painter. But he did not come by chance. The abundance of archaeological remains and the ostensible indigenous cultural richness were fertile ground to find answers to a concern that marked his whole life: the origin of the ancient Americans. Von Wuthenau had a particular interest: to acquire figurines or "masks" that offered a portrait of those who inhabited ancient Mexico. By comparing these faces and those of other pre-Hispanic pieces from all over the Americas with those of different cultures of the world, he found similarities that led him to propose the existence of African and Asian migrations and contacts prior to the arrival of the Spaniards.

The present temporary exhibition is composed, for the most part, of pieces from the Mexican charrería collection of the company's internal collection. Unlike other exhibitions of this genre, "Charrería, the essence of our land" focuses on the contributions of Jalisco and the magical town of Tequila to this art, although it is by no means limited to this region. Likewise, our interest weighs the most popular manifestations of this national tradition, emphasizing a selection of authentically representative pieces rather than those designed for their ostentation and richness. We want to point out that the main texts included in the exhibition maintain a chronological order on the development of charrería, while the works on display exemplify the continuity of this cultural asset. The exhibition reminds us why Jalisco and Tequila preserve this tradition as symbols of identity and pride.

Felguérez is considered one of the forerunners of abstract art in Mexico and a fervent member of the group known as "Generación de la Ruptura" (Breakaway Generation) and achieved perfection of form through colors, textures, volumes and dimensions in his work. "Manuel Felguérez's forms, both in painting and sculpture, are always recognizable, they inevitably belong to him over and over again; in their difference, these forms show him." Such words that Juan García Ponce dedicated to Felguérez in 1997 describe two of the most forceful traits in the creative production of this artist, born in 1928 in Valparaíso, Zacatecas: his constant call to geometry and abstraction, areas in which he performed as an artist.

Mexico is the leading producer of silver in the world. The exhibition is integrated by pieces of utilitarian character or imitating popular art forms. These works are part of the company's in-house silverware collection.

Fomento Cultural Citibanamex A.C. has been in charge of mounting this exhibition that makes our Cultural Center proud. More than 500 works of art created by today's most important Mexican folk artists are presented. The objects on display represent the work of our artists, who come from approximately 118 localities of the 31 Mexican states. The interest in their survival motivates us to promote them and give them a presence in our destination.

In homage to his contribution to art in our country, we exhibit 11 sculptures of master Cuevas that invite the visitor to know one of the most outstanding artists of neo-figurativism in the history of painting in the country and who also belonged to the Breakaway Generation.
