3 tequila cocktails to celebrate Mexican Independency day

Mundo Cuervo
The Perfect Margarita

Tequila, served neat, warms the soul and clear the throat to confess our feelings to the beloved woman or men. It is a mind-barrier breaker when solving the problems with an old friend. Mixed with some juice, blue agave soul gives any beverage magical powers; which you must discover as any mexican.

Helping you in your quest, I will give you 3 options to be delighted with Tequila.

1. Margarita (Daisy)

Margarita is much more than a women name was a slogan used by Jose Cuervo in 1945. Delicious Margaritas are part of the most renowned tequila cocktailsin the world thanks to the sweet-fresh flavors of lime juice, ice, Triple Sec and Tequila. As expected, many claimed to be the creators of this drink, but no one achieved to do it better than Don (Mr.) Carlos Herrera, who deliver this drink in honor to Mrs. Rita de la Rosa, a famous singer of the epoque.

2. Paloma (Dove bird)

Tequila Jalisco

Born in the magic town of Tequila, Jalisco; Paloma is an ever-present drink in most mexican parties especially in September and November. Traditionally, it is served in a small mud pot, rimmed with salt and sweet chilli powder. It is made from grapefruit juice, orange juice, ice, Tequila and grapefruit soda. At home, you can do it with lime juice, grapefruit soda and a glass instead of a mud pot.

3. Charro Negro (Black Charro)

Tequila Jalisco

It is so hard to prepared, so pay attention. You will require Tequila, ice, lime juice, cola and a pinch of salt. Then, just put all the ingredients in a glass and mixed them up….  That’s it.  As a matter of fact, if you use apple soda instead of cola and take out the salt and lime juice… you will have made a maroma.

¡Bonus! It is not tagged as a tequila cocktail because it is mixed when it comes into you mouth. However, ask your barman for a flag (bandera). Three glasses will be served, one with lime juice, other with white tequila and the last one with Sangrita Viuda de Sanchez (a bloody-like drink which is orange juice mixed with powdered chili). Then just drink them in the same order we have mention, green, white and red… just like the mexican flag.

Tequila Jalisco

After a having make a tequila taste session with your friends, you can impress them with your great knowledge of white, reposado (rested) and añejo (aged) Tequila.  Also, you can prepare some drinks to celebrate the mexican independency month this September and scream out loud “Viva Mexico” until the next year.
