The countdown has already started to celebrate the I Cuervo-Petrof International Piano Competition. A pilot project that aims to promote the piano talent of young musicians, as well as being supportive with their professional development.
From 12 to 18 March 2018, the elegant sound of the piano will replace for a few days in Tequila Jalisco, the classic and loud sound of the mariachis. Everything is ready for the I Cuervo-Petrof International Piano Competition, a musical event with no precedent in the zone that pretend to highlight the impressive sound of this classic and elegant instrument, promote the talent of those young and virtuosos musicians, and support them at the beginning of a successful musical career.
For this event, the Jose Cuervo Foundation, which keep its intensive work for the development of the cultural potential of Jalisco and the integration of the community through quality education, have joined together with Petrof Pianos, the renowned brand founded in 1864, which is the largest manufacturer of grand pianos and acoustic vertical pianos in Europe. Petrof is actually present in the 5 continents, and exports to more than 65 countries around the world.
The Piano Competition (whose rules and conditions for taking part, can be consulted in this link), is going to be divided into four categories with three winners in each one. The “debut category” for kids younger than 10 years old; the “junior category” for those between 10 and 13 years old; the “intermediate category” for teens between 14 and 17 years old, and the “advanced category” for pianists between 18 and 24 years old.
The contestants will play on one of the most significant pianos of the brand, a grand concert piano named Mistral. It is a grand piano, the biggest one, characterized by its solid bass and sharp sound. With its elegance, great sound, speed of action and a warm romantic tone, it will be certainly one of the leading figures of this event that starts on March 12 with the register, draw, and the cocktail meeting. It will continue on March 13 to 16 with the different qualifying rounds and a final stage, as well as special free access to concerts, and will end on the 18th with the awards ceremony and a gala concert as the finale.
It is about a contest where not only young Mexican pianists can participate, any talent contestant who wants, can be part of it no matter their nationality. An initiative which is within the actions taken by the Tequila School of Music, which currently has more than 300 students, and actually is producing and leading several activities; ensuring that the magical town of Tequila consolidates itself as a destination of cultural interest for the music lovers.
